We’ve got some exciting news to share… and don’t worry, it won’t change a thing. Our much-loved matt nylon and shiny nylon fabrics are now made using recycled materials.
That means:

In fact, if we didn’t tell you, you probably wouldn’t notice any difference at all. And that’s exactly the point.
What has changed?
It’s what goes into making your fabric. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working closely with our trusted supplier to transition to innovative recycled nylon yarns, without compromising on quality, durability, or performance. These are the same high standards you expect from Funki Fabrics, now with a more responsible foundation.
From Ocean Waste to Performance Fabric
A key part of this journey is our partnership with Healthy Seas, an organisation dedicated to removing waste from our oceans.
Through their incredible work, “ghost fishing nets” are recovered from seas and coastlines around the world. These abandoned nets are one of the most harmful forms of marine plastic, posing a serious threat to ocean life.
Instead of ending up in landfill or continuing to damage marine ecosystems, these nets are collected, cleaned, and regenerated into high-quality nylon yarn. This regenerated nylon is then transformed into the fabrics you know and love.
So, every metre of our matt and shiny nylon now plays a small part in cleaning up our oceans.
Why This Matters
Sustainability in textiles isn’t about quick wins or big claims, it’s about making better choices, step by step.
For us, it was essential that any move towards recycled materials didn’t compromise performance. Our fabrics are used for demanding applications dancewear, activewear, performance costumes, so they need to stretch, recover, and last.
